Hepatitis
At Rudra Ayurvedic Clinic, we understand hepatitis not just as a liver condition, but as a deeper imbalance of Pitta dosha and Rakta Dhatu.
In Ayurveda, hepatitis reflects conditions such as
- Kamala – Jaundice-like disorder due to excess Pitta
- Yakrit Roga – Liver disorders, including inflammation and dysfunction
This condition may be acute (like viral hepatitis), chronic (long-standing inflammation), or even autoimmune. Ayurveda focuses on calming Pitta, cleansing toxins, and rejuvenating liver function gently and effectively.

Recognise Signals Early
Ayurveda and modern medicine interpret hepatitis through different lenses. While modern science looks at viral markers and liver enzyme levels, Ayurveda pays close attention to internal heat, digestion, and doshic disturbance
Physical Symptoms (As per modern understanding):
- Yellowing of eyes and skin (jaundice)
- Fatigue and weakness
- Abdominal discomfort (especially upper right quadrant)
- Dark urine, pale stools
- Elevated liver enzymes (SGPT, SGOT)
Ayurvedic Observations (Rooted in dosha imbalance):
- Kamala – yellow discoloration due to aggravated Pitta
- Yakrit Daha – burning sensation in liver region
- Rakta Dushti – impurity and heat in blood
- Mild fever, nausea, aversion to food
- Disturbed bowel habits (loose stools or constipation)
What does the research say?

Antiviral
Phyllanthus niruri (Bhumi Amla) shows strong antiviral action, especially in Hepatitis B.
Kutki and Kalmegh have proven liver-protective effects in both toxic and viral hepatitis models.

Formulations In Ayurveda
Arogyavardhini Vati and Liv.52 together significantly lowered SGPT and SGOT levels in hepatitis patients (AYU Journal, 2021).

Ayurveda Care
Highly beneficial in non-severe and chronic hepatitis as a supportive and rejuvenative care system.
Safe for long-term use when managed under expert guidance.
