Haemorrhoids – Piles
At Rudra Ayurvedic Clinic, we understand that Piles (Arsha) is more than just a physical condition — it’s a manifestation of internal imbalance, mainly involving Vata and Pitta doshas.
Ayurveda views haemorrhoids as a disruption of Agni (digestive fire) and improper elimination due to chronic constipation, sedentary lifestyle, or excessive intake of spicy, dry, or processed food.
There are two main types:
- Shushka Arsha (Dry/Non-bleeding Piles): Painful, hard masses near the anal region caused by Vata imbalance.
- Raktaja Arsha (Bleeding Piles): Swollen veins that bleed due to aggravated Pitta and Rakta.
Ayurveda focuses on restoring digestive balance, reducing inflammation, and ensuring smooth bowel movements with internal herbs and external treatments.

Recognise the Signals Early
While modern diagnostics focus on the grade and type of piles (internal vs external), Ayurveda looks at doshic disturbances and digestive dysfunction to address the root cause.
Physical Symptoms (As per modern understanding):
- Pain or itching near the anus
- Bleeding during or after bowel movements
- Swelling or lump near anal area
- Constipation and straining during stools
- Mucus discharge and discomfort
Ayurvedic Observations (Rooted in dosha imbalance):
- Vata imbalance → dry, painful, hard piles without bleeding
- Pitta imbalance → inflammation, bleeding, burning sensation
- Mandagni (weak digestion) and Ama accumulation
- Rakta Dushti (impure blood circulation)
- Apana Vata vitiation, leading to improper elimination
