Common Cold (Flu)
At Rudra Ayurvedic Clinic, we treat the common cold holistically through Ayurvedic principles.
In Ayurveda, Pratishyaya (common cold) arises from an imbalance of Kapha and Vata doshas, often triggered by:
- Cold weather exposure
- Weak digestion or consumption of heavy foods (dairy, fried items)
- Sudden weather or dietary changes
- Suppressed sneezing or emotional stress
- Low immunity due to depleted Ojas
Our approach is to restore balance by enhancing digestion (Agni), expelling accumulated Kapha, and strengthening the body’s immunity naturally.

Recognise Signals Early
Both modern medicine and Ayurveda view the cold differently. While the former attributes it to viruses, Ayurveda identifies deeper causes rooted in dosha imbalance and weak digestion.
Physical Symptoms (As per modern understanding):
- Viral infection spread
- Sudden drop in temperature
- Weakened immune response
- Overconsumption of dairy, sugar
Ayurvedic Observations (Rooted in dosha imbalance):
- Aggravated Kapha blocking nasal passages
- Cold exposure disturbs Vata-Kapha balance
- Depletion of Ojas (vital energy)
- Ama accumulation and sluggish Agni
What does the research say?

Herbal Support
Sitopaladi Churna combined with Trikatu has been clinically observed to reduce symptoms like nasal congestion, sneezing, and throat irritation more rapidly than conventional antihistamines in mild viral infections.

Health care
Tulsi (Holy Basil) and Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) exhibit strong immunomodulatory and antiviral effects, making them ideal for recurrent colds and seasonal allergies.

Rasayana Support
Chyawanprash, a traditional Rasayana formulation, has shown success in clinical trials for lowering the frequency and severity of common cold episodes, especially during seasonal transitions in both children and adults.
