Anemia
At Rudra Ayurvedic Clinic, anaemia is understood as Pandu Roga, a condition marked by paleness, fatigue, weakness, and sometimes breathlessness.
In Ayurveda, it is primarily caused by:
- Pitta imbalance – Disturbs blood quality and heat regulation
- Rakta Dhatu depletion – Loss or underproduction of healthy blood tissue
- Agni (digestive fire) dysfunction – Poor nutrient assimilation
- Ama (toxins) – Blocking proper blood nourishment
Rather than just correcting hemoglobin levels, Ayurveda focuses on strengthening blood formation, digestive health, and restoring balance at a systemic level.

Recognise the Signals Early
While modern medicine identifies anemia by lab values and symptoms, Ayurveda looks for deeper doshic and dhatu-level disturbances.
Physical Symptoms (As per modern understanding):
- Pale skin or lips
- Chronic fatigue and dizziness
- Weakness or shortness of breath
- Brittle nails, hair loss
- Low haemoglobin on blood test
Ayurvedic Observations (Rooted in dosha imbalance):
- Pitta and Rakta depletion
- Low Ojas and weak Agni
- Rakta Dhatu kshaya affecting Prana Vayu
- Malnourished Dhatus (tissues) due to Ama buildup
- Under-functioning Agni and nutrient absorption
What does the research say?

Herbal Iron Care
Punarnavadi Mandura and Navayasa Lauha have shown excellent results in improving hemoglobin levels in iron-deficiency anemia cases. These classical preparations are gentle, effective, and boost digestion too.

Liquid Iron Tonic
Lohasava is a time-tested Ayurvedic fermented iron tonic, widely used in Ayurvedic hospitals for treating mild to moderate anemia without side effects often seen in chemical iron supplements.

Rasayana Support
Herbs like Amla, Ashwagandha, and Shatavari support hemopoiesis (blood formation), enhance Ojas, and promote long-term immunity and strength — essential for sustainable recovery from chronic anemia.
